Both of them spent many years living in the islands of Hawaii: Ed as the Executive Chef at the Manele Bay on Lanai and Nikki on the Northshore of Kauai - this explains why some of their dinners + cooking classes are pacific-rim inspired. Now living in the rolling hills of the world famous California Wine Country they are thrilled to share the best of the California Lifestyle with you.

Ed Metcalfe - Executive Chef
Chef Ed Metcalfe started his career in his family four breakfast + lunch restaurants at age 15. Fast forward 16 years when he became a graduate of the California Culinary Academy. He got his first taste of pacific rim cuisine during his time on Lanai - Hawaii for both the Koele Lodge + Manele Bay Hotel and he was hooked. Followed by a year spent in Copenhagen Denmark working under chef Collin Rice of the Michelin starred restaurant Godt. He continued with a Japanese inspired restaurant in Copenhagen - Sushitrian - under japanese chef Kenichiro Matsune. Sushi instantly became his passion. Ed opened his first restaurant in Bend Oregon under Sushimoto’s Asian Cuisine + Wine Bar - quickly educating the palettes of Central Oregon. Then returning to his native roots of California to land in the Wine Country. Opening Shiso Modern Asian Kitchen for 12 years as a local favorite.
Nikki Sommer- Creative Director
Nikki is an award - winning Television Producer who has taken her creative talents from the screen to the outdoors - still creating picture perfect settings for unforgettable moments. Serving delicious, healthy, farm fresh food in breathtaking locations has been a passion of hers for years. Her love for luxury picnics - outdoor cooking classes - and "anything food" can be traced back to her childhood. At the tender age of 11 she hung her first chandelier from a tree in her family's backyard in Germany. Home-made lemonade was served in wine glasses and mom's Christoffle table silver was used to serve filet mignon in a creamy mushroom sauce with fresh parpadelle pasta.
Nikki is responsible for setting the table and creating the atmosphere that makes the dinners at the White Farmhouse Table so unforgettable.
